I got the material for this and one other piece in a trade for some of my Hawaiian style Ivory fish hooks more than a decade ago.

Koa of any kind is hard to come by and a piece like this is a treasure, even as just a block of wood. The strong curl can be seen from every perspective.

I turned this a little thick, about 1/4 to 3/8 inches thick. I didn't want to risk losing it. It has been sanded to 1200 grit and finished with numerous coats of micro-crystalline "Renaissance" wax.
